In the case of an afterhours emergency on or off campus, dial 000 for the Queensland Ambulance Service. Alternatively, please present at your nearest Hospital Emergency Department.

If you have a medical condition or illness that is not life threatening and the QUT Medical Centre is closed, please contact the Hello Home Doctor Service. To contact please call 134 100.

You can choose to see a medical practitioner in your local area that is open. You can find a list of medical practitioners at https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/

Queensland Health have a phone service for health information. You can phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the cost of a local call. 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84)

Alternately, patients are able to access the Metro North Virtual Emergency Department.
Open: 7 days (8am-10pm Monday to Sunday)

You can use this service if you:

  • Live, are visiting or receive your treatment in Queensland
  • Have a device that can enable a telehealth consultation (video, audio, internet)
  • Can’t make an urgent appointment with a General Practitioner

DO NOT use the Virtual ED for the following medical problems:

  • Chest pain
  • Breathing problems or turning blue
  • Comatose or unconscious
  • Sudden inability to move or speak, or sudden facial drooping
  • The effects of a severe accident
